We are a nation divided. Our recent turbulent history has cast a shadow of fear over our country. Friends and family stand opposed on either side of an ever widening cultural and political gap. Victims of an inhuman act and helpless to find the perpetrators, we have turned our anger on each other. Played out daily on talk radio and other media, the nation’s War of Words rages on. This is my attempt to build a bridge.

War of Words (click for sample)

What you want I deplore
I guess that’s what we’re fighting for
But it wasn‘t all that long ago
You and me were on the same side

Far be it for me to say
We deal with anger in different ways
But I remember when we stood together
You and me and the whole world cried

So I'll try to find a place in me
Where the tears in you can be heard
Maybe hope won’t be a casualty in this endless
War of Words

Seems to me there was a time
When you and me did not see eye to eye
That we both agreed to disagree
But now we fight for foolish pride
Tell me why...

And I'll try to find a place in me
Where the fear in you can be heard
Maybe hope won’t be a casualty in this endless
War of Words

If all we’re made of is flesh and bone and blood and tears
Doesn’t it stand to reason we’re all the same inside?
And what we’re afraid of can make it seem there’s a wall between us
Though today we may be parted
Lost and tossed and broken hearted
We’ll finally find our way

If I try to find a place in me
Where the truth in you can be heard
Maybe hope won’t be a casualty in this endless
War of Words

And if you try to find a place in you
Where the truth in me can be heard
Maybe trust will build from tragedy
And end this War…
