A friend of mine was going through a very rough time and I wanted to write something to lift her spirits. This song came pouring out and was completed, lyrics, chords changes and all, in the space of fifteen minutes. It has since become a crowd favorite at my performances. I think the reaction it receives is so strong because we rarely hear anything as positive as the profoundly simple message of this song: that we are each unique and wonderful in our own way.

One In A Million (click for sample)

You’re one in a million, there’s no one like you
There’s nobody else who can do what you do
You’re a marvel, you’re a wonder, you’re a miracle made from love

You’re made out of magic – there should be no doubt
And how very tragic if you haven’t figured that out
You’re amazing, you’re a treasure
It would be my pleasure to tell you…

You’re the hero of your own life
You’re the star of the story
Hold yourself in the highest light
You are the power and the glory

Live every moment like it was your last
And don’t cloud the future with regrets from your past
You’re only human, you’ll make mistakes
Forgive yourself and move on…

You’re the hero of your own life
You’re the star of the story
Hold yourself in the highest light
You are the power and the glory
C’mon and shine in all your glory

I know some times it seems you might have lost your way
All around is dark, you see no light
If you remember to have faith in yourself, you’ll be alright

Cause you’re one in a million, there’s no one like you
There’s nobody else who can do what you do
You’re amazing, you’re a treasure
It would be my pleasure to tell you…

You’re the hero of your own life
You’re the star of the story
Hold yourself in the highest light
You are the power and the glory

You’re the hero of your own life
You’re the star of the story
Hold yourself in the highest light
You are the power and the glory
C’mon and shine in all your glory
There’s no one like you…
